Communications & Technology Recruitment Update. Issue 7, 17th March 2006

Looking forward to 2006 : Major Trends

Welcome to the latest update from Allan|Carter where we briefly review some of the trends in communications technology recruitment and share some news with you.

If you are a client looking for a recruitment partner who understands the communications technology marketplace, or are a candidate looking to discuss your career options, we would be delighted to hear from you.

3GSM: Barcelona was Buzzing!

There is now a real sense of the upturn in the market that we’ve all been hearing about for the last few years; particularly in certain areas of the market. There will undoubtedly be a shortage of candidates this year; already we are seeing an increase in recruitment in all roles across companies. More about Barcelona in our brief overview.

Allan|Carter Relaunches its Identity and Website

Just as the communications technology market re-focuses and sectors merge and converge, so we are developing our services, as a reflection of our Clients’ changing needs. Please see our revised website and electronic brochure. This strategy is demonstrated by our recent growth with new Clients, this year, such as Juniper Networks, CGI, Sun, Intel and Ganesh. Our existing Clients are still investing strongly in recruitment, right across EMEA and last year this was reflected in over 70% of our work placements being outside the UK.

Certain sectors of the market are likely to grow strongly this year with very significant resourcing implications for our clients. Scott discusses this in his article: “Scarcity of IMS Skills Challenges Vendors’ Ability to Meet Demand”.

New Office Location and Increased Staff

Rapid growth means that we have expanded into a new office location in Thames Valley Park.

We are also delighted to announce that Chris Tennant joined us at the beginning of the year bringing over 10 years of senior recruitment experience across multiple communications technology sectors.

Chris’s wealth of experience and well-developed network of contacts in this sector is a tremendous addition to the team. His professionalism and sense of fun is appreciated by both our Clients and Candidates.

Guest Articles

We are very fortunate to know a number of “luminaries” in this market; individuals who have an outstanding record of success in creating and building world-beating companies.

To launch this series we have invited Stephen Allott, ex-President at Micromuse, and currently a Director at Trinamo Consultancy, to give us his views on building and motivating a Sales Team: “Making the Numbers”. Micromuse was our very first client, back in January 1999. And we still work with them today.
